I can’t currently find out much information about the Larilee Oboe Co. of America, although a few years ago I found a website of theirs showing their range of instruments. It showed their President to be Mr Larry Lee, but as the most popular oboe used in America is Loree, I think he wanted a brand that sounded similar(ish).
I have only ever come across three of their oboes in the UK and felt that they were good for the level they were aimed it.
This one is a true thumb-plate, covered-plate, intermediate system oboe which would suit a player of grade 4 or above. It plays easily and, as with most American built items, is well engineered.
